FAQ

Are there any forms of sleep apnea which the Asate therapy cannot help?

Yes. The therapy cannot do anything for central (non-obstructive) sleep apnea. Other therapy measures are needed for this. In addition, Asate therapy is often not sufficient as the only therapy measure for severe obstructive sleep apnea. In these cases, the patient must also use a CPAP device and have regular medical checks.

Why a Plexiglas instrument?

The development and manufacture of the Asate Plexiglas instruments is based on medical treatment aspects and the instrument’s basic playability. The therapy instrument also fulfils all medical research prerequisites, is easy to play and easy to clean. With its smooth walls and the specially developed mouthpiece, it produces a clear, constant key tone, which is an important prerequisite for the Asate therapy.

Is circular breathing important for the effect of the therapy?

No! It is far more important to strike the right key tone – a strong, vibrating frequency, through which the connective tissue of the upper airways are gently massaged and tightened. Success is achieved with this key tone in combination with the Asate playing technique.

How often and for how long must the therapy instrument be played?

After attending the seminar or receiving the playing instructions (self-training for snorers), daily playing of 20 – 30 minutes is recommended in the initial phase.
For snoring 1 – 2 months
For slight sleep apnea (5 – 15 lapses/hours) approx. 2 months
For moderate sleep apnea (15 – 30 lapses/hours) approx. 3 months
For severe sleep apnea (from 30 lapses/hours) 4 - 8 months
Depending on the severity
Then, playing one to two times a week is enough to maintain the achieved success.

Can anyone learn the Asate therapy?

Yes! The Asate therapy can be learned irrespective of age and gender because the therapy is built on relaxation. Anyone can relax!

Will the volume of the instrument disturb my neighbours when I play?

The low-frequency, regular tone of the Asate therapy is virtually inaudible from a certain distance and through brickwork. However, if you feel like you are disturbing anyone, we recommend playing against a cushion or blanket. We have not had any feedback up to now that neighbours have been bothered by the noise.
